Yellow cab began operation in the Central Pennsylvania area in the year 1908. Since then the
company has seen many owners and different degrees' of success. The present owner, Clyde
Bachert, started work with the company in 1980 and purchased the floundering company in 1983.
Since buying the company in 83 yellow cab has seen nothing but continued growth. After
getting things in the Harrisburg area under control and profiting Mr. Bachert opened up a York
Branch. Following that success Mr. Bachert set upon giving smaller towns that had little or no
public transit the service he felt they wanted. His first task was the town of Gettysburg.
Gettysburg opened in the late spring of 1997 and has seen continued growth through word of
mouth and print advertisement. Located at the Gettysburg Airport it services are available 24
hours a day. The drivers their service everything from share-a-ride for seniors to tourists in the
area to see the numerous monuments and the battlefield where so many fell. Give them a call at

The town of Carlisle was next and within two months of opening everyone with the
company knew this was going to be a busy area. The Cumberland County seat has seen an
explosion of growth since opening and it just keeps getting busier. Located at 1417 Trindle road,
just east of the Plaza Mall, it is a constant hub of activity. The drivers their deliver packages,
business travelers, US Military personnel, Dickinson College students, car show tourists safely to

First off let me say that the State of Pennsylvania sets the rates cab companies are allowed to charge.
The rate is 1.40 on the pickup and 1.40 a mile thereafter. Any waiting time is charged at the rate of .20 cents a minute and is automatically added onto the meter charge.APPROXIMATE CHARGE FOR CARLISLE TRIPS
